Engine Company 16, located on Ray Owens Road just off of Washington Road provides fire protection and first response medical care for the Leah community. Engine 16 serves approximately 25 square miles in it's first due area as well as provide backup response for Engine 13 and Engine 10 in the communities of Phinizy, Winfield, and Appling. The majority of Engine 16's protection area includes the Clarks Hill Lake front and its numerous recreation areas from the Little River Bridge to Wildwood Park. The station is staffed around the clock with a minimum crew of two paid Firefighters who answer approximately 175 calls annually. Engine Company 16 is currently housed in a temporary structure until construction of a permanent station is completed.
